Wendy Jean Penrod, 55, of Newark, died Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at her home. She was born December 31, 1969 in Rome, NY to the late Peter and Nora (Porekeaw) Fay.

Wendy served her country in the United States Army during the Gulf War, where she worked as both a pharmacy technician and medic, providing compassionate care to those in need. Following her military service, she continued her dedication to helping others as a pharmacy technician for more than 20 years. In 2009, she earned her degree in psychology from The Ohio State University.

Wendy was known for a smile that could light up any room and a heart that radiated kindness. She had a special gift for encouraging others, often helping people recognize their own unique strengths and talents. Full of enthusiasm and warmth, Wendy especially loved children and brought joy and positivity to everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Doug Penrod; children, Brittney (Travis) Gibson, Josh Ramos, Daniel (Stacey) Penrod and Andrea (Tom) Hesseling; grandchildren, Hunter, Taighler, Parker, Emerson, Chloe, Roxie, Ryder, Sean, Justin, Jolia, and Drake; brother, Savit (Cindy) Amatayakul; and sister, Kathryn (Jim) Pittiglio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Jennifer Fay.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 1-3 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Arlan Dolly officiating.
