Wilbur Eugene "Gene" Lane, 92, of Newark passed away on March 24, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Center. He was born on January 9, 1932 in Ripley, WV to the late Lewis A. and Mabel B. (Richard) Lane.

Gene served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a member of the American Legion Post #285. He was a humble, kind, generous and honest man who loved his family and friends dearly. He was a member of White Chapel Christian Church. He loved riding motorcycles, fast cars, animals, the outdoors and Florida, living in Dade City for 7 years after retiring.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Richard) Myers; son, Michael (Cyndi) Lane; step-daughter, Pam Bartolomucci; fiance, Rosemary Frischen; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; the mother of his children; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Mae Lane; step-son, George Kay; and sisters, Helen Morrison and Ruby Westlake.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, March 29, 2024 and Saturday from 10-11am prior to the funeral service at 11am at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Burial with military honors will follow at Poplar Forks Cemetery in Gratiot.
