William "Bill" Arthur Roese, 76, of Hebron, died Saturday, July 5, 2025 at his home. He was born July 31, 1948 in Columbus to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Wooten) Roese.

Bill was a proud graduate of Westerville High School, where he stood out as a talented baseball player. A true patriot, he served his country honorably as a combat medic in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Frostburg State University.

He built a long and respected career with the Department of Defense, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. A committed veteran and community leader, he also served as Post 51 Past Commander of the AmVets, state of Ohio finance officer and Amvets Post 51 finance officer. In addition to the Amvets, he was also a member of American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Elks and Moose.

He had a deep love for music and was a remarkably gifted musician, able to play nine different instruments. In his youth, he shared the stage in Nashville with his sister, creating cherished memories through song. He also enjoyed golfing and the simple pleasures of life.

Above all, he was a devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved Papaw, and a loyal friend to many. His love, laughter, and music will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca; children, Todd (Katya) Roese, Tracy (David) Roese, Chris (Linda) Shoemaker, Jerry (Debbie) Shoemaker and Wendy (Charles "White") Shirk; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Valletta Lewis; and step brothers, Vern Davenport and Jimmy Sayre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Roese; and brother, Allen Roese.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 4-6 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm. Military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
