Obituary

William "Bill" Jennings Dishon II, age 77, of Newark, Ohio, passed away suddenly, Friday, September 6, 2024. He is now home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill was born on June 20, 1947, to the late William Jennings Dishon I and Blanche Marie (Platek) Dishon.

He was an extraordinary man, loving husband, great father, adoring grandfather and wonderful friend. He touched many and will be greatly missed. Bill served in the United States Army as a Specialist, Fifth Class Non-commissioned Officer of Munitions; serving in Thailand and Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon returning, he married Linda, his high school sweetheart. He supported his family using his giftings in many trades. In addition to spending time with his family, his favorite pastimes and hobbies include collecting items of sentiment over value, hunting, wooden boats and summers at Lake Erie. His family and friends remember him as a humble, sensitive, selfless man; that always put others first. He was a creative storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. His life was one of compassion and contentment. We all loved him so much and he will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Schuler) Dishon, of 54 years; children, W. Brian (April) Dishon, David (Danielle) Dishon, Laura (Doug) Sudomir and Carolyn (Ryan) Clay; he had a special bond with all 17 of his grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Brianna (Kenny), Faith, Will, Luke, Clark, Mary Mae, Abigail, Nolan, Jed, Garrett, Samuel, Stella, Sully, David, Grace, Jackson, Sadie, Elijah and Hudson; siblings, Denise (Jay) Winegardener and Philip Dishon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Wesley Windegardener, whom he dearly loved and sister-in-law, Karen Dishon.
