William Glen "Bill" Smith, 87, of Newark, died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born January 5, 1938 in Reno, OH to the late Harry LaForrest and Violet Irene (Farmer) Smith.

Bill served in the United States Army where he was Military Police. He served with the 564th MP Company in Massweiler, Germany in 1963. He retired from Rockwell International where he worked for 39 years. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, watching cooking shows, square dancing, singing and playing the guitar.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen "Gerri" Powell Smith; children, Tarilynn Cowdery (Mike) Dietrich, Diedra Cowdery (Amos) Cross, Todd Smith and Shannon Smith (Rich) Luther; grandchildren, Andrea Dietrich, Derrick Dietrich, Lindsay (Shane Keller) Dietrich, Austin (Erin) Cross, Robert (Megan) Cross and Kiah (Alex Heim) Smith; great grandchildren, Madison Johnson, Joey Dietrich, Jayda Dietrich, Brodie Keller, Adleigh Cross, Braxton Cross, Kallie Cross, Paten Smith and Violet Heim; great great grandchildren, Tatum and Delilah; special grand fur-babies, Apple and Jack; and siblings, George Smith, David Smith, Eveline Parr and Susie Moran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Lucretia (Pat) Ringwalt; brothers-in-law, Harry Ringwalt, Gene Kocher and Bill Moran; niece, Diana Moran-Poindexter; and nephews, Jody Smith and Rodney Kocher.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will be Monday, April 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating. A graveside service will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
