Obituary

William John Harris, age 71, of Granville, passed away at his home Monday, August 18, 2025. He was the supportive husband of the Ohio girl he met in England, an inspiring father and grandfather to his two children and four grandchildren, and omni-present force for his buddies and leaguemates on both the golf course and in the bowling alley.

Born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin on March 23, 1954, to the late James Weber and Jane (Peters) Harris, Bill spent his childhood years getting into trouble as one of five siblings.  A high-school basketball athlete, he remained active his whole life.  After graduating from Elkhorn High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1973 to 1976.  He went on to serve in the Ohio Air National Guard until 2004, when he proudly retired as a Major.  He held an associates degree from North Central Stage College and a Bachelors of Science from Franklin University (he loved to remind people he had a BS degree from FU). Bill was also an avid golfer, bowler, and conversationalist as well as a life-long Badgers and Packers fan.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen (Morrow) Harris; children, Ryan (Gina) Harris and Erin (Michael) Fraizer; grandchildren, Xavier, Sienna, Emilia, and Adalyn; siblings, James (Donna) Harris and Mary Jane (Steve) Schaulk; and good friends, Doug Green and Gary Stevens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Harris and his sister and brother-in-law, Susan (Robert) Brandt.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055.
