Robert E. Wainfor

Robert E. Wainfor, 85, of Newark, passed away June 16, 2020, at SharonBrooke Assisted Living in Newark, Ohio after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's.  He was born March 21, 1935, in Newark, Ohio, to the late Lloyd E. "Doc" and Ethel Alice (Burke) Wainfor.

He is survived by his wife, M. Joan (Miller) Wainfor, whom he married on August 18, 1957, in Huntingdon, PA; one son, Stephen R. (Susan) Wainfor of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Spencer R. and Daniela S. Wainfor both of Columbus, Ohio; two cousins, Nancy Shaffer and Connie Crist, both of Prospect, Ohio; and special friends, Eve and Dave McDonald, Sami Simons Judy Riley, Diane and Jamie Gargus, and Jan and Dan Wilkin.

His working career included Daniels Jewelry for 20 years, manager of The Eatery Restaurant and sales for L.S. Polster Restaurant Supply, where he retired from December 1997. With his wife, Joan, he trained obedience dog classes for Licking River Kennel Club and was a founding member of the Licking River Kennel Club Drill Team. They operated their own obedience school, Wainfors K-9 Obedience, for approximately 20 years. He put obedience titles on an Old English Sheepdog, Golden Retrievers, and finished championships on their two Afghan Hounds. Dogs were his favorite hobby. He volunteered at the Davis-Shai House in Heath beginning in 2001 as a server in a tuxedo, as well as assisting with maintenance of the House. He resigned March 2013 and became a member of the Friendship Club of Licking County.

Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21 ^st St. Newark is assisting the family with arrangements. There will be no calling hours.
